This week was the last session of this this block of meetings. We start up again on the 13th January at Carr-gomm Lancaster.

We spent the session sorting though the work of the last 5 weeks and doing some editing and manipulation in photoshop.

Sorry I am a bit late with this post but I thought that I would put up the details of the photographers that we looked at last week in case you want to investigate them further. They were:-

We looked at his book A little English City - A documentary of the Lancaster and Morecambe District

We also looked at the work of Japanese street fashion photographer Shoichi Aoki particularly his book Fruits

The week before we looked at the work of Joel Meyerowitz in particular his street photographs from New York

Hi. This week we struggled a little with the weather - rain- which doesn't make ideal conditions for taking photographs. As Trevor had missed last weeks session and we welcomed Nat to the group, we decided to head out to the centre of Preston to take some more street photographs although we quickly decided to head inside to the Harris museum and art gallery - it was not raining in there. We were presented with more difficult lighting as it was very dull and we had to use flash which gave us all some challenges. But as always there is something to learn and techiques were adapted to suit the conditions.

As always we had a dicussion when we got back to base.

Session Two - Street Photography

This weeks session we decided to take photographs in the Preston city Centre as a contrast to the park and natural environment which we photographed last week. Before hitting the streets we looked at the work of Joel Meyerowitz particularly his street photographs of New York in the 60's and 70's

The first group started meeting last wednesday and will continue for 4 weeks from the 11th November.
We set off thinking about how photographs are framed by the edges of the rectangle, and how it is the photographer who decides the content and nature of their image by how they frame their picture, and what they include and leave out. We also thought about the vantage point of the photographer and how this influences the picture.
We headed to the park to put this into practise and take some picture.
